So I thought I'd have a run down of a few of my favourite nail polishes for summer . These colours in particular have been doing the rounds on my nails all summer . I've never done the whole gel polish thing before , mainly because I just love popping into my local chemist / shop , and picking out a new nail polish to suit my mood and add to the collection .. One of life's simple beauty pleasures !

Essie 'Mint Candy Apple' - This is a beautiful minty aqua kinda green , it's a cream finish so no shimmer , just a gorgeous pastel ( but with a pop to it ) cream finish . Formula is great , you need two coats to build the colour , I actually tend to go for 3 coats if I have the time . But once on , you've got 4-5 days before you start seeing chips . And the brush is fantastic , that wide flat brush , making things super quick . As you can't get Essie over here , a similar dupe that I would go for is the Rimmel Rita Ora collection in 'Breakfast in Bed' .
Revlon 'Ginger Melon / China Flower' - Ok , Ok , so I'm cheating a bit here , but out of this range , I just couldn't pick between these two .Their shades are totally different but both are such gorgeous bold bright colours . Ginger Melon is just a stunning bright coral pink with no shimmer , I've had so many comliments while wearing this , asking what the shade is , always a good sign ! China flower , I have spoken about before (here) , it's a vivid poppy red , one of my favourite reds to date . Lasting power is the usual , about 4 days before chipping .
Rimmel Rita Ora 'Lose Your Lingerie' - This one is a very pale pink , with an almost pearl like finish to it . It's a very pretty colour , different to the usual baby pinks that you see as it is quite a bit paler . Looks absolutely fantastic on tanned skin , it really stands out ! You do need two coats , but again with this one being pale , I like to use three coats .
Sinful Colours 'Nail Junkie' - Ahh now this is stunning ! I love it , it just reminds me of a mermaid , the most gorgeous aqua greeny blue shimmer and glitter . This on your toes , and even nails , just looks amazing when at the beach or pool , it really glistens in the sun . I pair up two coats on top of a base colour , preferably something that matches with the blue or green hues , to really make it stand out . You can't get Sinful Colours over here , but an almost identical dupe is , Revlon's Nail Enamel in 'Blue Mosaic' . Just plain lovely !( Sadly the swatch does not do it any justice ! )
Bourjois So Laque 'Bleu Violet' - This is one that I pick up if I want something a bit more bold . And it definitely is that . A striking bright purple , with a hint of deep blue to it . It applies nicely , but is one of those polishes that doesn't dry properly for a good while , so be careful , but once dry , it has a lovely glossy shine . So if your into a bold shade that isn't your typical summery colour , I'd give this one a go !
