Gillette Venus Embrace and Gillette Satin Care Sensitive Gel
Hair removal . The bane of my life . Especially in the summer months , when you can no longer afford to be on the lazier side of things ( just me ? ) . I tried waxing , but I am beyond a wimp , and couldn't face going back monthly . So I went back to shaving ,
but one of the reasons I wanted to try waxing in the first place was that I would end up with a shaving rash / razor burn on my thighs and bikini line whenever I shaved , which is not something you want , especially in summer !
In the past when shaving I've used disposable blades , and just soap and water . But after the failed attempt at waxing I thought lets up the game and try something different , maybe investing in a better blade and routine might reduce the irritation I get after shaving . And that it did !
I bought the 'Gillette Venus Embrace Razor' . The first time I used it , I remember I had to keep checking it was actually getting rid of my hair , because it was so smooth I couldn't feel it doing anything ! It was like going from economy to business class ! ( bye bye disposables ! ) I loved it , and am totally converted . It has 5 blades so you get a nice close shave , and the handle of the razor has a good grip to it . Aside from a smoother and closer shave , I also noticed a decrease in the irritation I was getting , it wasn't totally gone though . On a side note I love that with the razor I bought I got a little shaving pod kinda thing , which sticks to the wall of your shower and holds extra blades for when you need them - Ingenious !
Then I read that using a shaving gel can help with razor burn , so next time I was at my local chemist I picked one up , I got the 'Gillette Satin Care Sensitive Skin Shave Gel' . And for 3.70 Euros for a large can , I think it's pretty good value for money . After using this I noticed much more of a difference ! An even smoother shave , and very minimal irritation , if any . One happy bunny ! It says it contains aloe vera which is a known soother for skin so whether it's that , or just the fact it helps soften the skin when shaving , I don't know - I'm no scientist . But it has helped considerably . And I for one will be sticking to this new routine . Also to keep any irritation at a minimum I would make sure your not using a blunt blade , and replace it as soon as it shows any signs of wearing .
For those of you that wax , I applaud your strength !
