Lipstick That Lasts

So as we get further into Autumn ( like I haven't mentioned it enough!?) , we're starting to pull out the bolder lip colours , and unlike a more sheer or lighter lip colour that have been around for summer , this takes a little more care and time to pull off . You don't want to end up with lipstick
bleeding onto the outside of your lip line , and you also don't want it to disappear sooner than you'd like . But with a little extra time taken you can get your bold statement lip to last as long as you do . These are the couple of extra steps I use to make sure the colour lasts , and it stays where it's supposed to !

First things first , make sure you've got any rough skin on your lips removed , warm damp face cloth will do the trick . Then before I start my makeup I apply a good layer of lip balm , as some lip colours can feel a little drying , as usual my one and only is the 'Nuxe Reve De Miel' - cant beat it .That way when it's time to do your lipstick , they'll have a little boost of moisture .

Onto the lipstick , I always like to use a lip liner if I'm wearing a bold lip , it will stop your lipstick from bleeding and will help it last that bit longer . Start with a sharpened lip pencil and outline your lips , taking time on the cupids bow , (my darn cupids bow isn't even , so this takes me quite some time to get right!) whether you want to accentuate it or keep it looking natural . Then I like to fill in the whole lip with the liner , so if the lipstick defies odds and does fade , your left with an even colour underneath .

Once the liner is done , pop on a layer of your lip colour , either from the bullet or with a lip brush , the lip brush will give you more precision , especially if your using a very bold colour . After you've applied your first layer of lipstick , do the tissue blot , you know the one , pop a piece of tissue on your lips and blot off the excess .

Now to really get it to last all day long , grab another piece of tissue like a Kleenex , separate the two layers , and hold it over your lips . Then get yourself a powder brush , some translucent powder , I always use my 'Rimmel Stay Matte 001 Transparent' , give your brush a good swirl in the powder , and dust it over the tissue onto your lips . This really sets it all into place , and for good measure , I always like to do this a second (or even third!) time , so apply another layer of lipstick , blot , and repeat with the powder over the tissue .

That bold lip won't budge till you want it to !
